Pause to Click - Rules

Use your Creativity and Share the Seat Belt Safety Message for Your Chance to Be a Star!

There’s a lot going on when you get in the car—setting up your iPod, texting your friends, powering up the Gameboy or PSP, or fighting with Mom about what radio station to listen to.  Sometimes kids can forget to buckle up.  Taking a moment to “pause to click” your safety belt and riding in the back seat are the best ways to be safe in the car.

Because kids listen to what other kids are saying, we’re asking middle school students to put your talents to good use and create an entry that tells kids why it’s important to buckle up before you hit the road. Visit the resources page to get some ideas. Submit your entry in one of three categories:

  1. Put your message to music.  Enter an original song up to 2 minutes in length on cassette tape or compact disc, or upload an mpeg file at www.pausetoclick.com.  The winning song will play on local radio.
  2. Create a public service announcement.  Enter a video PSA up to 2 minutes in length on DVD or video tape.  The winning video will air on Nickelodeon.
  3. Design a work of art.  Enter a poster up to 11” x 17” in size.  Any medium is acceptable.  Winning artwork will make its debut on the Silver Screen as part of pre-show programming at local movie theaters.

Additional Rules/Regulations:

  • Participants must be in grades 6, 7 or 8
  • Each entry must be accompanied by a completed, signed entry form (www.pausetoclick.com)
  • Song lyrics must be original.  The music you choose determines the exposure you’ll get if you win (because of copyright issues, if you use melodies from existing music your song can’t be played on the radio).
  • All entries must reference seat belt use and passenger safety
  • All entries must be free of obscene language and drug or gang references
  • All participants must use an adult representative as a contact
  • Participants must be able to perform/screen their entries at the Rock Hall on June 7, 2008.
  • Finalists must be accompanied to the Rock Hall event by an adult
  • Song and video entries must include a copy of written lyrics/scripts
  • Entries can either come from individuals or two participants working together
  • If winning entries are submitted by a pair of students, prizes will be split evenly between them
  • All submissions become property of Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital

All submissions must be received by Saturday, May 19.
